Ottawa Ontario (and other reasons why Canada is cool)
BTW, yes I'm here in Ottawa doing another data center with Joe. This one is for the Canadian government. Crazy stuff, its really big...
Anyway. Top reasons why Canada is cool:
1. Tim Hortons. They are on every corner. In fact, one is attached to my hotel. I love their tea, its pre-steeped, so I don't have to mess with a tea bag. Plus they have the best bagels in the world. AND they are cheaper than Starbucks. How can you not like it?
2. Hockey. We went to the Sentators game tonight. Sadly, they lost 7 to 2, but it was still fun. They play at Scotiabank Place. That is cool because:
- They have a Tim Hortons in the conssesion area.
- Instead of shoot tshirt or coupons into a crowd they had a hot dog cannon gun. I kid you not, it was the most insane thing I had ever seen. Plus it worked perfectly.
- The programs were free
- I got to eat poutine. (Ever hear of it? Its french fries with cheese curds and gravy on top - sounds disgusting I know, but so do deep fried twinkies at first, right?) Check it out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poutine
- They still have, and actually use, an organ at the game.
3. Everything is written and spoke in English and French. What better way to learn another language?
4. I got to go to Quebec today where it is the law that French must come first on the sign and English is not required. I got my picture taken in front of a French stop sign :)
5. If it were cold enough, we would be able to skate on the canal. Sadly, its only -1C.
6. Everyone is so friendly.
I'll post my pictures later, but unfortuantly I do'nt have my chord ( er cord) with me. It'll have to wait till I get home. But I have some nice shots.
Coming home Thursday night, weather permitting (as I'm flying into O'Hare...)
Did you know the normal Canadian national anthem has French in it? They never sing it that way in the states... Wierd.
